Jemima Essilfie, professionally known as Jemi, who represented the people of Esuaso, a suburb of Tarkwa in the Western Region, has been crowned the winner of 2021 Miss Western.
The beauty pageant, which came off at the Grace Angel Auditorium on Saturday 31st July at the Takoradi Library, had 16 delegates battling for the grand prize of the crown, a car and ¢5,000 cash prize.
A Teacher who represented the people of Shama, Emmanuella Atta Affanie (Ella), emerged as the 1st runner-up, with another representative from Tarkwa New Atuabo, Illona Addae (Illona), coming as the 2nd runner up.

In the 12 weeks long of the pageant, the winner, Jemi, had been winning plaudits with her performances. For 10 times in the 13 weeks, she won the ‘People’s Choice’ award and won Most Innovative’ and ‘Most Versatile’ once each.
This year’s event started with 16 delegates from various parts of the Western Region after auditions in Nzema, Tarkwa and Takoradi. After 12 weeks of rollercoaster performances, 10 out of the 16 delegates made it to the finale.
Multiple award-winning artiste Kofi Kinaata crowned the event with staggering performance. Ewuraba Eesi, Zeekay, amongst other talented musicians and dancers from the region, also graced the occasion with performances.
Winning the ultimate prize, Jemi walked away with a 2012 Kia Morning car and received ¢5,000 as her cash prize. 1st runner up, Ella walked home with a refrigerator and cash prize of ¢3,000. 2nd and 3rd runners-up took home ¢2,000 and ¢1,000 each and 32” televisions, respectively.
The CEO of Ex-One Entertainment, organizers of the beauty pageant, Isaac Mensah, disclosed that “this year’s contest has been the most competitive ever since the event came into being because everyone who made it to the finale was a favourite to win.”
“We were able to bring this to a successful end with the help of our judges and solid team that I have,” Mr Mensah added.
Jemi becomes the third queen of the Miss Western Beauty Pageant., taking over from Miss Edith Eghan, who represented the people of Shama last year.
