The management of Jerry Justice Foundation and the Ofiekwanso Crew of Adom 106.3 FM on Saturday October 25, 2014 donated varied items to support the female and male inmates at the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons.
The donation formed part of the organization’s effort to support the less privileged in society including inmates in custody, who have been abandoned by their families.
The items presented to the inmates included sanitary pads, antiseptics, sanitizers, toothpaste, tooth brushes, washing powder, toilet rolls, beauty soap, beverages, bags of rice, tin-tomatoes, gari, sugar and bread. Others include underwear, bathroom slippers, shoes, clothes, branded exercise books and copies of the Holy Bibles.
Founder of the organization, Jerry Justice Mensah also led his team to worship and to share the word of God with the inmates at the male prison.
Receiving the items on behalf of Nsawam Medium Security Prisons, a Chief Officer at the Religions Affairs Department, Evangelist Afotey Odai commended the Jerry Justice Foundation for the gesture and urged pastors, churches, corporate bodies and other kind-hearted persons to come to their aid.
He said despite the efforts by government the inmates also require the support of the corporate bodies and churches to obtain items such as medicine among others, to enable the inmates to stay healthy.
Meanwhile, at the female department where some of the items were also presented to inmates, the 3rd in Command at the female division of the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons, Superintendent Yayra Ashong-Mettle also expressed appreciation to the Foundation, adding that the public must follow suit.
