The NDC Member of Parliament for Jirapa, Dr. Francis Bawaana says the Jirapa District is so broke it cannot afford snacks for visitors to the assembly. He said the assembly was indebted to the tune of GH¢ 3 million and that that explains why the assembly is not performing its traditional role of building and expanding educational infrastructure in the district. Dr. Francis made the statement after he cut the sod for the commencement of on a new bore hole for the Ullo Senior High School in fulfillment of an electoral promise. He had made the promise while campaigning to succeed the late MP for the Constituency, Edward Salia. The MP said the assembly’s vehicles were denied fuel at filling stations because of its poor credit worthiness. He stopped short of blaming the previous New Patriotic Party administration saying that “I don’t want to blame NPP, I’m not saying they stole money, at all, but they did things without actually thinking about tomorrow because they thought they will be around for a long time and then things can go on the way they were.” Source: Joy News/Ghana
