Egypt based Ghanaian striker John Antwi has expressed delight at the Egyptian Football Association confirmation that the new Premier League season will start next week December 26.
The Egyptian League was halted two seasons ago in the wake of the Egyptian political crisis. On two occassions the proposed start dates did not materialise but Antwi is happy that the league will finally return next week.
The 2013-14 season of the Egyptian Premier league will have 22 teams divided into two groups.
Five teams will be relegated at the end of the season and three promoted, leaving 20 teams in the subsequent season.
Antwi who plays for Ismaily club in an interview with Joy fm stated how happy he is and what he is aiming to achieve as they league bounces back.
“I’m happy the league is coming back because we have been here for over a year without playing a single league game so it is good news for us here in Egypt,”
“We have been training, playing friendly matches and I believe the team is ready for the league.
“As a striker my job is to score goals and my target is to try and win the goal king here.”
