John Jinapor, Spokesperson for Vice President John Mahama, says the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is working assiduously to ensure that the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) thrives and benefits the people of the three northern regions.
The Savannah Accelerated Development Authority is a policy being spearheaded by the ruling government to help scale up the rate of development in northern Ghana.
Government is to spend over 200 million Ghana Cedis and has already allocated 2.5 million Ghana Cedis as seed money so as to implement a number of development projects aimed at breaking the cycle of destitution in the area.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, John Jinapor stressed that even though the ruling NDC stated it in its manifesto, the implementation of SADA is a process but not an event hence the government must be given time to put appropriate structures in place.
He added that the government is in the process of appointing the chief executive and operating officers of SADA so they can plan activities of the authority.
John Jinapor noted that the Mills-led government would ensure transparency and accountability in the disbursement of funds for SADA and ensure that it is used for the intended purpose.
Aide to Vice President John Mahama revealed that there would be a stakeholders forum in September between government and development partners to discuss effective and efficient ways to roll out the project.
John Jinapor howvever assured Ghanaians especially those in the three northern regions that adequate funding would be made available for the smooth operations of the authority.
