The Vice-President John Dranani Mahama is scheduled to meet representatives of the two warring factions in the Bawku Municipality in the Upper East Region on Friday to chart a peace accord.
There have been bloody encounters between the Mamprusis and the Kusasis with the recent bout of violent clashes claiming five lives.
Even though the area is said to be enjoying an uneasy calm after Sunday's violent clashes, there are fears the situation could get wprse.
The vice-president led a high powered government delegation to the area on Wednesday and has been adequately briefed by security chiefs in the three northern regions.
Today’s meeting with the two groups is seen by security analysts as a healthy development which would encourage dialogue between the two sides.
John Mahama had earlier lamented the growing tension and needless conflict in the area and had blamed it on poverty and lack of job opportunities for the teeming youth.
He called for a more concerted effort towards providing a lasting solution to the conflicts.
The vice-president is accompanied by the Interior Minister, Cletus Avoka, and presidential spokesperson, Mahama Ayariga and some security chiefs.
