Ghanaians thank you, Mr President, for your service but we have had enough and it is time for you to bow out, Nana Akufo-Addo has said.
The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by President John Mahama has in the last eight years, imposed unbearable hardship on Ghanaians and must, therefore, give way for a more competent team to manage the affairs of the state.
Addressing thousands of enthusiastic supporters of the party at Akojo Park in Tema on Sunday at the party’s Greater Accra campaign launch, Nana Akufo-Addo said God has given the suffering Ghanaians the power to change the course of their country through the use of the thumb.
The former Attorney General said three key issues are important to the party and he would ensure that they are addressed when he wins power.
Key among them, he noted, is the issue of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), which he said the president and his government have collapsed. According to him, the scheme is now a pale shadow of what the erstwhile Kufour administration dreamt of and implemented.
Nana Akufo-Addo reiterated his concerns for parents who have been buried under mounting school fees and other bills, insisting he would ensure that the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy is implemented fully by his government.
Singing praises of his running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, he said Ghanaians should expect the finances of the country to be up and running since the NPP is blessed with virtuous and smart-thinking men and women who would direct the affairs of the nation competently.
Flanked by his wife, Rebecca Akufo-Addo and the wife of the vice presidential candidate, Samira Bawumia, he urged the supporters to come out in their numbers and vote for the NPP on December 7 for the party to score a resounding victory.
