Police are set to charge and arraign former Black Stars Defender John Paintsil before court following his arrest and detention for assaulting an officer and allegedly stealing his wife’s vehicle.
Mr Paintsil was placed in police custody Tuesday, May 24, for assaulting a cop and allegedly stealing his wife’s car.
The former Fulham Star was invited by the East Legon police over a complaint by his wife that he had stolen his vehicle.
But, Mr. Paintsil became angry during interrogation and hit the district police commander and the investigator.
Public Relations Officer at the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, ASP Afia Tenge told Evans Mensah on Joy FM's Top Story new segment that the Regional Police Commander has asked the District Commander to step aside for the District Crime Officer to handle the case.
ASP Tengey said this is because he is now a party to the case.
