The Ghanaian forward was on target in the 2-1 win in the final becoming the fourth Ghanaian to win the cup.
Paintsil got LA Galaxy to a flying start in the game after scoring in the 9th minute of the encounter.
The winger made a brilliant run into the box before being found by his teammate and he made no mistake from close range as he scored the opener.
LA Galaxy doubled their minutes moments later through Dejan Jovelic who was assisted by Marky Delgado.
Fifteen minutes after LA Galaxy’s second goal, Red Bulls reduced the deficit.
Sean Nelis beat the opposition’s defence before firing the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 2-1.
Despite their late attempt in the second half, New York Red Bulls were unable to draw level as they ended on the losing side.
For LA Galaxy, it was all about the brilliant start to the game which earned them the victory.
Their triumph makes it the sixth time they have won the MLS Cup while Paintsil become the fourth Ghanaian to win the trophy after Harrison Afful, Jonathan Mensah and Yaw Yeboah.
