A 12-member press team from the Tokyo International Conference of Africa (TICAD), has paid a two-day visit to the Millennium Village Project (MVP) at Bonsaaso in Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.
The group included journalists from the British Broadcasting Corporation, Pan African News Agency, Inter Press Service, Asahi Shimbun, East African Business Week and African Renewal.
The team also toured 15 communities and inspected work on a clinic at Manso-Datano, kindergarten at Wonnipanindue, clinic at Watreso, and cocoa nursery at Akyerekyerekrom.
Mr Samuel A. Afram, cluster manager and team leader of the MVP, led the visitors to inspect the project.
He said the scheme that focused on health, agriculture, environment and community development was being implemented in 30 communities in the district.
Mr Afram said the assembly, staff of the project and government collaborated efforts to rehabilitate roads, provide social amenities and extend electricity to some communities.
Mr Nicholas Gouede, programme officer of TICAD, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) African Bureau, said the visit was to enable the team to assess MVP projects being funded by the Japanese Government.
This, he said, would help in the preparation of the final document for the forth coming TICAD conference that would take place from May 28 to May 30 in Yokohama, Japan.
Mr Gouede commended the MVP staff for their contribution to the development of education, health and agriculture in the district.
