Fourteen year old Mariam Alhassan can now smile her way back to school and aspire to be the doctor she wants to be, after your super station, JOY 99.7 FM in collaboration with police in Kasoa stopped her marriage arrangements to a man three times her age.
Mairam, a pupil of Sakafia Islamic School in Kumasi was scheduled to be married to forty-two year old, Fuseini Inusah.
Her father, fifty two year old, Alhassan Inusah had begun preparations for her marriage ceremony according to Islamic traditions.
Although the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Police in Kasoa are still investigating the case, they have questioned Mariam’s father, and stopped any marriage processes.
