What does it take to make an entire crowd forget the stress of the week and the weight of the year and dance without looking at the time?

Joy FM’s 90's Jam at Pleasant Gardens, Dzorwulu, delivered the answer on Friday night, December 2, 2026, and it came wrapped in nostalgia, sweat, deep voices, and timeless music.

Pleasant Gardens came alive from 8 pm to 3 am – a pulsating sea of bodies, smiles, and sing-alongs. The packed venue buzzed relentlessly as revellers surrendered to the timeless rhythm of a golden era.

The atmosphere was turned into a throbbing heartbeat of classic tunes, with legendary DJ Black commanding the turntables. His signature seamless transitions between hip-hop bangers, hiplife gems, and silky R&B anthems had the packed crowd surrendering to the rhythm from the very first beat.

Fuelling the fever pitch were Joy FM's broadcasting heavyweights Lexis Bill and Nii Ayi Tagoe, their infectious energy whipping the audience into a frenzy, while Kofi Hayford sprinkled his unique flair, turning every moment into pure entertainment.

Until 3 am, the night air was filled with laughter, cheers, and the irresistible pull of decades-old hits that felt brand new again.

Amid the glowing lights and vendor stalls overflowing with tantalising eats and cooling drinks, couples swayed intimately, friends formed impromptu dance circles, and families let loose in a rare, carefree escape.

Zette, glowing with relief as she danced alongside her husband, captured the night’s therapeutic magic.

“After a whole week and, honestly, a whole year of stress, we just needed to unwind. We’re massive lovers of this golden era music, so we couldn’t stay home; we had to grab tickets and come here to let it all go".

Not far away, Nana Ama, radiating pure bliss with every move, added her enthusiastic voice.

“I’m having an awesome time! I love the 90s Jam; I came last year and simply couldn’t miss this one. This should be organised more often to bring that irresistible 90s joy back every time.”

As the energy surged deeper into the night, with DJ Black dropping yet another crowd-pleaser and Lexis Bill, Nii Ayi Tagoe, and Kofi Hayford keeping the vibes electric, the sense of community was palpable. Generations united under the stars, rediscovering the timeless power of great music.

Nana Abakah, arm in arm with his wife, shared his heartfelt reason for returning year after year.

“I came with my wife to have fun and soak up some proper 90s music. The programme was brilliantly organised. I’ve been coming every year because these tunes, combined with this amazing crowd, make it so captivating.

It’s just the perfect moment to enjoy quality time together.”

Then there was Ama, a Gen Z attendee experiencing the 90s Jam for the first time. She said she took a chance after seeing a post online, and the gamble paid off.

“This is my first time, and I really enjoyed myself,” she said. “My expectations were met. These kinds of shows should be organised often, especially for us Gen Zs, so we can enjoy good old-time music and not lose our roots.”

As the final hours crept towards 3 am, the crowd showed no sign of surrender. Voices grew hoarser, steps heavier, but the joy remained intact. The Joy FM 90s Jam was not just a night out; it was a reminder of music’s power to pause time, reconnect generations, and turn an ordinary Friday into a memory people will keep searching for again.
