Whether you have or haven’t noticed, consider it official and not a mistake: Joy Prime now airs Joy News Prime, Ghana’s most content-rich news bulletin.
The new programming which started on the 27th of last month is a response to audience demand for news as part of the hitherto entertainment-based channel’s programming, Joy Prime’s channel manager, Nana Yaa Sarpong has said.
Joy News Prime which hitherto sat exclusively on Joy News will air on Joy Prime between 7:00 and 9:00 pm from Monday to Friday.
According to Nana Yaa, there are plans to further open up the channel to other news but “the Joy Prime brand will still lead in the entertainment space”.

“What this means is that Joy Prime is no longer only an entertainment-based channel as we have plans to introduce other programmes to cater for other news,” she explained.
Joy News prime is segmented into main news – hard and human interest stories, business, entertainment and sports news as well as riveting documentaries.
By the introduction of Joy News Prime, the channel is growing by way of diversity because as readers will recall, the channel recently introduced Showbiz Now, an entertainment tit-bits news bulletin which airs on weeks at 9:00 am, 11:00 am and 12:00 noon.
The channel also airs telenovelas such Daddy’s Girls, Ashoka Samrat, Runways and Meri Ashiqui at 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm, respectively with Meri Ashiqui showing on repeat at 2:30 pm.
