Power companies in Ghana should brace themselves for a surge in television viewing and demand for power as millions of Ghanaians are set to follow the new gripping Soap Opera to hit Joy Prime screens Mondays to Saturdays at 8pm.

In a quest to break new grounds in Ghana’s television history, Joy Prime, MultiTV’s prime entertainment Channel will launch a masterpiece of Soap Opera titled Avenida Brasil (aka Brazil Avenue) on Monday June 15, 2015 at 8pm.

The much talked about Joy Prime channel was launched three months ago on March 1, 2015 and within its second week of telecast, the channel broke its first grounds to rank no.4 in Ghana’s Television Viewership survey by US owned research firm, Geopoll.

Joy Prime is notable for prime, best of breed contents and a quality service offering.

Aside its award winning original productions, a great number of the channel’s acquisitions have enjoyed huge viewership in Ghana and across Africa including telenovelas – The Promise, Passion Morena, Spider and popular TV Series – Homeland, Downton Abbey, Breaking Bad, Damages, Suits, American Horror Story, and Pablo Escobar.

MultiTV’s Programs Director, Mr. Abdulai Awudu and Ms. Nana Yaa Serwaa Sarpong, Joy Prime’s Channel Manager, explained that Avenida Brasil is poised to be a hit with both advertisers and millions of viewers in Ghana because as well as being a compelling watch, the show deviates from the norm of focusing on the lives of the super-wealthy to putting the values and aspirations of the 'new middle class' who can identify with, center stage.

In Ghana not only do they account for more than half of the population but have also become the country's largest and most coveted consumer market, they added.

The story is set in an imaginary district in the suburbs called Divino, where everyone knows each other, hang out at the local bar and gossip about their neighbour's latest indiscretions. In spite of being poor, it is a cheerful and warm community.

Avenida Brasil employs the usual high levels of melodrama, combined with an intricate story based on a little girl who comes back as an adult to avenge the death of her father.

Viewers shall be gripped by the battle between Rita and a now legendary villain, Carminha, the evil stepmother who abandoned her in a landfill site as a child.

Avenida Brasil has been touted by many as the Soap Opera of all Soaps. Packed with super engaging scenes, every episode tells a better story. It has chalked many successes with over 100 Award Nominations including the International Emmy Awards and over 40 Wins.

Avenida Brasil became such an unprecedented phenomenon in Brazil that even President Dilma Rousseff felt obliged to change her work plans for the evening.

Brazilians are known to take their soap operas seriously, but this one even surpassed another national passion, exceeding audiences for a football final.

It is written by João Emanuel Carneiro (‘Cat’s Cradle’), directed by Ricardo Waddington (‘The Favorite’) and has received good reviews from both Brazilian and the International press. It has conquered audiences with its witty language and impeccable scenes.

The cast includes Murilo Benício and Eliane Giardini (‘The Clone’), Cauã Reymond and Vera Holtz (Passione’), Alexandre Borges (‘The Buzz’), Heliosa Perissé (‘Cat’s Cradle’), José de Abreu (‘Forbidden Desire’) Ísis Valverde (‘India – A Love Story’) and Carolina Ferraz (‘The illusionist’), among others.

Avenida Brasil has been adapted in 17 languages and screened in over 124 countries including the entire South America, United States, Sweden and France.

Aside it’s availability on the MultiTV Digibox, Joy Prime is free to view on all smart TV Sets using only antennas and all terrestrial Digital Platforms. Don’t miss out on the thrills Avenida Brasil brings to your screens every Monday to Saturday at 8pm, Exclusively on Joy Prime.
