The Marketing and Brands Manager of ARB Apex Bank, Akorfa Kpodoh, says the JoySports Invitational came at the right time for corporate institutions including her organisation.
Apex Bank were debutants in this year's event which marked a return after a four-year hiatus with the tournament being held at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The event, organised by JoySports and sponsored by the Minerals Commission, McDan Group, The Luckiest, Skechers, Emigoh Ghana, Peeva Beverages, and Caveman Watches, featured about 29 corporate organisations.
Apex Bank claimed five medals at the event including winning gold in Chess and Tug of Peace.
"The experience was overwhelming. It was a moment that we loved. It was filled with fun, energy, and then also opportunities; a lot of opportunities for us," Akorfa said on the AM Show on JoyNews.
"It also eased the corporate stress not only that, ARB Apex Bank is very happy and glad to have participated in this tournament and we are happy about that.
"When all the institutions left, very exhausted, that was the time these ladies were cheering us up to the last minute. We love sports that is the reason why we go to the gym; the bank sponsored us and we do that for free."
Having performed well on their maiden outing, Akorfa promises an even better performance from Apex Bank in the next edition.
"We are first-timers, we are also preparing [for the next edition]. Next year we are going to sweep all the awards," she added.
The chess competition was one of 15 disciplines featured at the tournament, which included events like CEOs' and Women's penalty shootouts, a women’s 100m dash, a men’s 100m dash, and tug of peace.
The next edition promises to be even bigger and better.
