Article Wan has revealed the reason behind a recent statement he made regarding the quality of musicians that perform at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
A few weeks ago, Article Wan, while pleading with the organisers of the TGMA to consider billing him to perform at their award ceremonies, indicated that he could do better than the "jump and go" artistes they put on the stage.
"Kudos to TGMA for your remarkable work over the years! As you plan ahead, I humbly suggest curating a lineup of talents like myself and others who deliver truly memorable performances, not just "jump and go" acts," he wrote on Facebook.
In a recent interview with DJ Slim on Hitz FM, he explained that he described the artistes the are billed on TGMA nights are "jump and go" so he could grab people's attention.
"Richie said something here that when you are not getting the attention, you have to come out. You see the jump and go, I intentionally made it bold. I know our people like talking, they want to talk. So when I added the 'jump and go', they started reacting. I've gotten your attention.
That particular side was to get your attention to listen to what I am talking about. I was talking about getting quality performances at the TGMA, something memorable for the world to see. Secondly, I said when artiste are performing the front stage is very dull," he said.
Confirming that he once performed at the TGMA at the early stage of his music career, he admitted he was not impressed with his act, a reason he needs a second chance to prove to the world the top performer he has become.
In the meantime, nominations for the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards are still opened till Sunday 16th February, 2025.
