The Junior Doctors’ Association of Ghana (JDA-GH) has suspended its planned nationwide withdrawal of services following engagements with the Ministry of Health and other relevant stakeholders.
In a statement dated October 6, the association said the decision was made as a “gesture of goodwill and in the interest of uninterrupted healthcare delivery.” The suspension, it added, is to give the government the opportunity to fulfil its commitments to the doctors.
“The suspension allows government the opportunity to implement its commitments,” the statement read.
The JDA-GH, however, cautioned that it will closely monitor progress on the issues raised and will not hesitate to reinstate industrial action if agreed timelines are not honoured.

“Should there be delays or failure to honour the agreed timelines, the JDA-GH will have no option but to reinstate industrial action without notice,” the association warned.
The junior doctors reaffirmed their commitment to delivering quality healthcare to Ghanaians but emphasised that the welfare and dignity of their members remain non-negotiable.
“We remain committed to the health of Ghanaians but stress that the welfare and dignity of junior doctors cannot be compromised,” it added.
The association expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, the public, and the media for their support and understanding during the period of negotiation.
