The Judicial Staff Association of Ghana (JUSSAG) is considering calling off a two week old strike declared in protest over poor conditions of service.

The association is accusing government of delaying the implementation of their salary approved by the judicial council.

They announced the strike on May 20, and have since remained at home despite appeals from the Ministry to return to work.

The strike has brought activities of the judicial service to a halt. A number of court cases have had to be postponed because there are no judicial service workers to supervise activities at the court.

The Employment Ministry as well as the Labour Commission have described the strike as illegal with the latter proceeding to court to challenge the legality of the strike.

Even before the court will give its verdict, the Association says it may soon call off the strike.

On Tuesday, the president of the Association Alex Nartey told Joy News they are making headway with officials of the Employment Ministry and are closer to a resolution of the impasse.

"I have said that we are heading to closure of the industrial action except that there are certain issues we need to take a close look at," he said.
