Indigenous liquor giant, Kasapreko Company Limited (KCL)has donated an amount of $11,140 an equivalent of GH¢22,280 to the Ghana Heart Foundation in support of two patients at the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, to enable them undergo surgery.
The two, three year old Terry Tetteh Djabanor with hole in heart and 26 year old Bernice Agbeko suffering from heart failure, can now undergo surgery with the help of Kasapreko.
Speaking at the short ceremony in Accra, the Deputy Managing Director of Kasapreko, Richard Adjei said the management and staff of the company made the donation as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
According to him, Kasapreko strives to create a sustainable and socially responsible business model that serves the interest of the communities within which it operates.
Richard Adjei indicated that given their long relationship with the Ghana Heart Foundation, it granted the request of both patients when the Foundation approached them.
"Led by the Human Resource department, staff of Kasapreko Company Limited voluntarily donated to this worthy cause. Management of KCL felt the need to support the activity by adding up to the contribution made by staff" he underscored.
The Deputy Managing Director hoped the contribution would go a long way to save the lives of the two patients.
Receiving the donation, Founder of the Ghana Heart Foundation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng thanked the management and staff of Kasapreko for the kind gesture and promised to put the monies received, for the purpose for which they were requested for.
He said the surgery of Terry and Beatrice will commence in the shortest possible time to enable them live normal lives.
Prof. Frimpong Boateng noted that the doors of the Foundation are open to everyone who wants to support a worthy course.
He added that mobile phone users can text to the short code LIVE 1766 to all networks to donate just 60 pesewas to save the lives of the vulnerable in society.
"If even a quarter of mobile phone users in the country text to this short code, the Foundation will have more money to operate on patients free of charge," he stressed.
Prof Frimpong Boateng urged other organizations to emulate Kasapreko’s example to donate generously to the Ghana Heart Foundation.
