The Member of Parliament for Assin North Mr Kennedy Agyapong has been questioned by the Criminal Investigations Department.
The MP was invited to the CID headquarters following a complaint lodged against him by Editor of the Al-Hajj newspaper, Alhaji Iddrisu Bature.
Alhaji Bature says the Assin North MP threatened to kill him following a heated radio discussion.
Scores of Mr Agyepong supporters thronged the premises of the Police CID Wednesday morning as he was taken in for questioning.
They told Joy News’ Fiifi Koomson they believe the MP was being politically persecuted.
Mr Agyepong told journalists after his meeting with the CID officials that he was only asked to submit a written statement.
He said the police officers were cordial with him.
The Assin North MP and the NDC stalwart Alhaji Bature a few weeks ago engaged in hot exchanges on Asempa FM.
Mr Agyapong said he was angered by unwarranted and unprovoked attacks on his mother by Alhaji Bature, hence his outbursts.
