Listeners of Joy FM have been overawed by sensational performances by brilliant school children hosting the station programmes today.
Caller after caller into the Super Morning Show lauded the children for their eloquence, forthrightness, intelligent prognosis and diagnosis of the country’s problems and insightful submissions.
Fifteen-year-old Maureen Kyere, from Achimota Senior High School hosted Ghana's most influential breakfast show, assisted by Eric Vondee from University of Cape Coast; Albert Kofi Konadu from IPMC; Adubea Asante-Apeadu and Vanessa Plange both from the Christ The King International School.
Young people are hosting all the programmes on Joy FM celebrate World Radio Day aimed at promoting access to information as well as free, independent and pluralistic media
They discussed a bouquet of topics: the crippling power crises, leadership, relationship, the just-ended African Cup of Nations amongst others.
On the energy crisis, there was unanimity that managers of the country’s power sector have failed the Ghanaian people.
Vanessa Plange said she believed that the Electricity Company of Ghana was not being truthful with the people.
"The are not frank and transparent with us," Adubea agreed.
On leadership, the kids demonstrated arcane awareness of what is going on in the country.
One girl said takes inspiration from President John Mahama.
"I think he is a good leader, but Ghana does not need a good leader at this time, Ghana needs a great leader," she said.
