The suspect in the alleged murder of Joana Yabane, a final-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been remanded in prison following his second court appearance.
The case, which has garnered significant public attention, was adjourned to April 1, 2025.
The court was informed that the docket for the case has been submitted to the Attorney-General’s office for further advice, indicating that investigations into the circumstances surrounding Joana Yabane’s death are ongoing.
Yabane, a student of KNUST, was found unresponsive behind the Central Laboratory on the university’s campus in the early hours of the morning.
Her body was discovered by authorities after a crime scene investigation was launched. Following the investigation, Daniel Tuffour was arrested as the prime suspect in connection with her death.
Tuffour, who appeared in court on February 28, 2025, was remanded for two weeks. Today’s court session saw the case adjourned to April 1, 2025, as the legal process continues.
The adjournment allows time for the Attorney-General’s office to review the case and provide further guidance on the next steps.
The tragic death of Joana Yabane has shaken the KNUST community, and the case remains a topic of intense interest and concern among students and faculty.
Authorities have assured the public that they are committed to ensuring justice for the deceased student and her family.
As the legal process unfolds, further developments are expected, with many awaiting the Attorney-General’s advice on how the case will proceed.
