The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has proscribed its ‘IN-OUT-OUT-OUT’ policy on residential accommodation for admitted students.
All students admitted to Programmes of Study at the University are now required to make their own residential arrangements with the University’s halls of residence and hostels.
A statement signed by Registrar, Koby Yebo Okrah, said the new policy takes effect from the 2013/2014 academic year.
“In keeping with the University’s strategic and strenuous efforts at providing greater access to science and technology education and training for national development, the University has accordingly reviewed the policy of tying admissions to Programmes of Study at the University with the provision of secured on-campus accommodation for admitted students”, it stated. “Admissions to the University with the attendant offer of accommodation in Halls of Residence have, therefore, been decoupled”.
The statement however said priority of place in the residential facilities shall be given to only undergraduate freshmen.
All freshmen with admission to the University are to apply to their respective affiliated halls of residence for consideration for on-campus residential accommodation.
