Outspoken social commentator and Editor-in-Chief of the Insight Newspaper, Mr. Kwesi Pratt, on Monday, August 30th, descended strongly on some members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) describing them as egocentric.Mr. Pratt, who was speaking on Citi FM, claimed there is an intense “internal insurgency” within the NDC, and alleged that some of its activists were deliberating doing so because they do not want President Mills’ administration to succeed, but wants the party to end up in opposition.Mr. Pratt, who failed to disclose who these saboteurs are, warned that the growing internal opposition to President Mills will not inure to the benefit of the key insiders leading the attack.“The blow which will send NDC to the canvass would not come from the New Patriotic Party, it will not come from the Convention People’s Party, it will be a self inflicted blow, it would be an NDC blow which will send the NDC to the canvass,” he said. But his comments seem to have incurred the wrath of Mr. Kofi Adams, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC.Speaking in an interview on Citi FM, Mr. Adams was of the view that the NDC had been plunged into its current state due to such comments by social commentators. He accused Mr. Pratt and other social commentators of feeding on “hear-say,” and creating problems in the NDC where no such “problems” exist and advised him not to be rumour monger. The special aide to ex-president recalled an occasion where Mr. Pratt indicted former President Rawlings for allegedly casting a slur on the integrity of President Mills in South Africa during president Jacob Zuma’s inauguration.“I remember, Mr Pratt, very vividly repeating that Former President Rawlings [undermined President Mills, but]…this was false because Mr. Rawlings was not even given a platform to even make a public speech,” he added.Source: Chris Joe Quaicoe/Peacefmonline.com/Ghana
