The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has assured patients and the general public that a team from the Hospital and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) on Sunday resolved the fault which brought about a temporary halt in its operation at the Maternity Block and theatre. Joy News reported on Sunday that pregnant women due for delivery at the maternity ward of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital were on Saturday redirected to the surgical department because the theatre at that ward had been closed down. But according to a press release issued on Sunday by Mustapha Salifu , Head of Public Relations, the team jointly worked on and repaired a fault that had been detected on the underground cable that serves the Maternity Block and a couple of other areas. The repair work, according to the release is what necessitated the brief suspension of operations in the Maternity theatre. Authorities of the hospital said before the work begun, an alternative arrangement was made to send all emergency cases from the Obstetrics Department to the Surgical Block for operations. "As soon as the work was completed, operations resumed at the Obstetrics theatres later yesterday", the statement said.
