Officials of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have indicated that the replacement of broken down surgical equipments will take some time.
In light of this, the hospital is considering repairing the broken down equipment as a stop-gap measure.
Surgical operations at the nation's premier Teaching Hospital has come to a halt following the breakdown of the Anaesthesia Department including the Electrocardiogram (ECG) machines used to measure and regulate heart beats during surgeries.
The hospital Pulse Oximetry used in both the operating theatre and post-anaesthetic care unit have also broken down and doctors at the surgical ward are only attending to emergencies.
Mustapha Salifu, Public Relations Officer of the hospital told Joy News the broken down equipments are being repaired in the meantime to manage the situation.
“We are even going to see how we can salvage the ones that we are working with that are giving us problems and when we are able to fix them, we will review the situation and announce accordingly," he stated.
