Maurice Cooreman
Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko Belgian manager, Maurice Cooreman, has decided to remain at Kaduna United for the next football season.
Cooreman, who has managed six different Nigerian clubs since 2003 when he made his debut at Gabros International will be setting a personal record of three seasons at a Nigerian club for the first time in his coaching career.
He spent one season each at Gabros, Lobi Stars, defunct NPA, Bendel Insurance, Ocean Boys, Enyimba and headed for Ghanaian giants, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, where he was fired.
Kaduna United eventually hired Cooremans when he left Kotoko in 2009 and he was convinced to shun a move to big-spenders Warri Wolves in 2010.
"I've started to screen players for the new season at Kaduna United. I decided to stay with Kaduna United so that the club can pay me my outstanding money," he said to SuperSport.com.
When asked about his rumoured move to neighbours, Kano Pillars, Cooreman replied: "Nobody contacted me for any job at Pillars."
There are strong indications that Cooreman will have to build a new team as top stars like Richard Ocheayi, Chinedu Agwu, Jude Aneke, Linus Adams, Emmanuel Bivan, Benjamin Ishaya, Siman Yusuf, Ibrahim Pius and Isiaka Oladunjoye have left for greener pastures.
Cooreman has since emerged as the club's most successful manager after their historic Federation Cup victory against Enyimba in 2009, which earned the club a place in Africa's second tier club competition, the CAF Confederations Cup.
