Four more suspects have been arrested in connection with the recent violent disturbances at the Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational Institute at Effiduase Asokore in the Ashanti region.

The four include three female students and the head prefect of the school.

All 43 who were presented before the Asokore Mampong District Court, have been admitted to bail as police continue their investigations.

In their second appearance before the court Friday, the prosecution replaced the charge sheet.

The 43 suspects have now been slapped with fresh charges including conspiracy to commit crime to wit, unlawful entry.

The other charges are causing unlawful damage, and stealing.

The students went on the rampage allegedly in protest against poor performance in examinations, and in the process damaged six cars and other school property.

According to prosecution, police have so far taken fingerprints on properties damaged by the students who were on rampage and have sent them to the appropriate quarters.

They are also in the process of valuing the property destroyed.

Head of Legal and Prosecution at the Ashanti Region Police Command, ACP Kofi Blagodzie says investigations have revealed some suspects who are at large, are not students of the school.

“We had the information that some people are involved so we are trying to see whether we can clamp on them and add it to the charge sheet. The school prefect is one of the people we put before the court”, he said.
Counsel for the suspects pleaded with the court to admit the juveniles and young offenders to bail.
He revealed that parents of the suspects have shown their preparedness to stand surety and also adhere to the conditions of the bail.
Legal Representative for the suspects, Daniel Kwame Boateng who was pleased by the courts decision to admit the suspects to bail, maintains some of his clients are not guilty of the charges.
“We are saying that if the crime was perpetrated it cannot happen that all these juveniles and young persons were part”, he said.
The suspects were admitted to bail in the sum of GHȼ2,000 with one person preferably a parent each to stand surety.
Accused persons are to appear before the court once a week with their parents, while the case has been adjourned to the second of March this year.
