Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called for digital designs and innovations that would be responsive to the dangers digital users, especially children, face online.
According to the former president, the importance of the use of technology is not in doubt but care has to be taken not to endanger users, especially the most vulnerable ones such as children.
The organisation as part of its Digital Literacy Road show for the month of March has been engaging prominent persons to add their voices to make the digital ecosystem safer for users.
The officials of Child Online Africa, led by its Executive Director, Awo Aidam Amenya paid a courtesy call on Former President Kufuor at his residence in Ghana’s capital, Accra, to seek his support for safer usage of the digital tools.

The former President praised Child Online Africa for its diverse campaign online to protect online users, especially children and called for moves to protect online users.
“Technology is good and we can provide education about how to remain safe online at all times. It is important to also appreciate the fact that humans as we are, there are people who are more likely than others to be at risk of online abuse,” he advised.
He argued, therefore, that to be able to deal with the overlapping and interdependent nuances, consumers should encourage and demand from design and innovation stages to have at the back of their minds their natural human frailties. He was convinced, it was only then that some level of protection for the consumer could be guaranteed.
“The problem of technology must, to a large extent, be solved by technology itself,” he intimated.
The Executive Director of Child Online Africa, Awo Aidam Amenya, thanked the former President for his support for online reforms and promised the organization would contribute to finding solutions to the myriad of the problems online.
Child Online Africa is an organization that promotes safe and responsible use of the Digital space with special focus on children and young people.
