Some children reportedly missing in the latest Kumasi fire outbreak have been found alive and unhurt.
Fire swept through a slum around Aboabo in Kumasi Saturday evening and destroyed about 200 makeshift structures serving as homes to some settlers.
Some mothers who left their children in some of the structures could not locate them after fire officers brought the fire under control.
Luv News’ Erastus Asare Donkor who has been following the outbreak, reports that the children have been found.
When he visited the burnt scene Sunday, Erastus was informed that some residents took the children away to safety and have since been reunited with their families.
The Regional Minister Peter Anarfi Mensah, Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Kojo Bonsu and Chief Fire Officer in the region visited the scene in the morning to assess the situation.
Mr. Kojo Bonsu told Joy News they were also there to commiserate with the affected persons.
They were also there to ensure that the people are safe, Kojo Bonsu said.
He announced that he has communicated with the regional NADMO coordinator to provide them with support latest by tomorrow, Monday.
This is the third major fire outbreak in the region just a week into January 2016.
Ashanti Regional Minister, Peter Anarfi Mensah said a meeting would be convened to strategise how to stop the “perennial fire once and for all”.
He described the spate of the fire outbreak as “quite worrying”.
