The leadership of the Kumasi Frafra Joint Youth Association in the Ashanti region has cautioned its members to desist from engaging in tribal politics in a bid to ensure a peaceful election.

The advice adds to the numerous calls for the youth to ensure politicians do not lure them into perpetrating activities that could end up in violence.

The group with over 500 members is made up of 14 different Frafra associations in Kumasi.

The call was made by the leaders, during a cleanup exercise to observe the National Sanitation Day (NSD) Saturday.

One of the leaders Apigseya Abdullah told Luv FM’s Prince Appiah in an interview that the group is non-partisan, “so that the politicians do not come and push us to clash with each other.”

He stressed the need for a free, peaceful and tribal free election in December.

“We need peaceful and tribal free elections. We don’t want to hear that this person is this, that  person is that,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Frafra in Kumasi, Naba Musah Akanboga has expressed worry at the indiscriminate littering of the environment particularly with plastic materials.

According to him, education on environmental cleanliness should not be restricted to when NSD is approaching.

He said other ethnic group should emulate the attitude of the Frafra community so that Kumasi can gain back its lost ‘Garden City’ name.
