The Member of Parliament for the Kumawu Constituency, Ernest Yaw Anim, has marked the Christmas season by donating food items and second-hand clothing to drivers and riders operating within the constituency, as part of efforts to support livelihoods and strengthen grassroots economic activity.
The gesture forms part of the MP’s ongoing engagement with key professional groups whose daily work sustains transportation, commerce, and local economic growth in Kumawu. Drivers and riders, often described as the backbone of community mobility, were the direct beneficiaries of the Christmas outreach.
Presenting the items, Ernest Yaw Anim reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of transport operators, noting that their role goes beyond transporting people to connecting communities, facilitating trade, and supporting social and economic interactions across the constituency.
“Drivers and riders are indispensable to our development agenda. When they thrive, the entire community benefits,” he said, adding that the Christmas season offered an opportunity to share with those who work tirelessly to keep the local economy moving.
According to the MP, the distribution of food items and second-hand clothing was intended to ease some of the pressures faced by drivers and riders during the festive period, while also reinforcing the values of compassion, unity, and community support.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as timely and thoughtful. They noted that the intervention reflects people-centred leadership and pledged their continued cooperation towards peace, unity, and sustained development in the Kumawu Constituency.
The Christmas donation, observers say, highlights Ernest Yaw Anim’s hands-on approach to leadership and his focus on addressing practical needs at the grassroots level, especially during periods that call for solidarity and shared responsibility.
