Kusum Gboo Dance Ensemble, the award - winning traditional music and dance group has once again revealed the power and authenticity of Ghanaian dance forms.Participating in the just ended Dubai City Festival in the Middle East, the group, led by Nicholas Baker (aka Goro) captivated capacity audiences with high energy dance pieces characterized by frenzied drumming and songs.In a chat with Etienne Ofori, Public Relations Officer, he said the group so dazzled large audiences with its stagecraft and highly vigorous pieces, which fascinated they kept asking for more.He revealed that Kusum Gboo performed and held workshops also in a number of community centres, cultural houses and primary schools where they gave lectures on the rich Ghanaian cultural heritage.Artistic groups from diverse countries, including India, Columbia, the United States and several European countries participated in the festival, which included as well, art exhibitions, fashion shows, theatre performances and acrobatics.The performance tour, organised by Eric Nana Aboagye, included visits to famous landmarks in Dubai, which had over the past decade or so, become a hot-bed of high rise buildings, shopping malls, hotels and architectural marvels.The Dubai Festival City comprises a series of residential communities, numerous hotels, malls, a golf course and other entertainment sites, schools.The project spans 3.8 kilometres of water frontage on the eastern bank of the Dubai Creek.Kusum Gboo Dance Ensemble has thrilled diverse audiences in The Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway and Estonia too with traditional and cotemporary dance pieces that tell the story of Ghana – and indeed Africa.Source: Daily Guide
