Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) President Kwabena Yeboah believes the Normalisation Committee has veered off their mandate by looking at organizing a competition and seeking sponsorship for it.
The committee reached an agreement with the clubs to start active football this year with the introduction of a Special Competition, which will kick off in February.
“I think the [Normalisation Committee] were of the view that most of the clubs have been idle and because of that some of the players had complained of not being paid so out of that concern the NC thought they had to get busy,” Kwabena Yeboah said on Joy FM.
“But respectfully, I do not think that was their business. I do not think that was their mandate. I believe they were taking over a responsibility that they were biting more than they could chew.”
The four-member committee was put in charge by FIFA to steer the affairs of Ghana football following the Anas expose which led to the dissolution of the Nyantakyi-led GFA.

The world football governing body tasked the committee to;
- To run the GFA’s daily affairs and cooperate with the special task force once it has been set up by FIFA, CAF and the Government of Ghana;
- To review the GFA statutes to ensure compliance with the requirements of FIFA and CAF, particularly art. 15 of the FIFA Statutes, and;
- Once the GFA statutes meet the requirements of FIFA and CAF, to organise and conduct elections of a GFA executive committee on the basis of the revised GFA statutes.
The Normalisation Committee mandate will expire on March 31.
