The annual Kwahu Easter Festival has now become an omnibus event where all manner of people throng to the top of the Kwahu Ridge to celebrate. To the real natives of Kwahu, Easter celebration is a moment where families embark on a massive home coming and this provides an opportunity to reflect on the past and make amends, forging ahead to face the future with unity and love. Families get united after being away for long and the traditional authorities use the opportunity to meet with community members. In the year 2005 the Kwahu Paragliding Festival was introduced and this has taken the entire festival to a different height, gaining international recognition.Last year, a very unfortunate media reportage on the Easter Festival dominated headlines which gave a very negative account of the Kwahu people. The synopsis of this reportage was an alleged open sex which tainted the image of Kwahu’s as people who endorse immoral behavior. After thorough investigations, the story turned out to be false. The KDA wishes to underscore that Kwahu is a disciplined and religious community with high morals and would be the last to allow or encourage visitors to do such despicable things. We wish to plead with you, our respected media to do a thorough job by crosschecking all such serious rumors with the authorities before publication. We would like to use this medium to officially invite the media and the entire country to this year’s Kwahu Easter Festival which promises to be more exciting, bigger and better. We wish to urge all guests and holiday makers to celebrate in an atmosphere of respect for the laws.Kwahu Development Association shall liaise with the security agencies to ensure the safety of all celebrants. The following behaviors shall therefore not be tolerated:• Parking at unauthorized places to cause traffic jams.
• Reckless driving,
• Use of Unregistered Motorbikes,
• Criminal activities,
• Indiscipline and Hooliganism,
• Indecent dressing and all immoral behaviors. We are very confident that this year’s Easter and Paragliding Festival will live up to its billing as Nananom and the good people of Kwahu would once again showcase the rich cultural heritage of Kwahus. Let’s make the Kwahu Easter and Paragliding Festival a showpiece of Ghana’s tourism development agenda.0208769319 / 0244708917- Kingsley Young Opare
