The Editor-in-Chief of the Crusading Guide newspaper, Mr. Kweku Baako Jnr. is in London to continue his investigations into the alleged involvement of the Rawlingses and Mr. P.V. Obeng, a former presidential advisor, in taking bribes said to have been paid by officials of Norwegian cement manufacturers, SCANCEM.Kweku Baako and another newspaper editor, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko of the Statesman, spent a week in Norway investigating the alleged case.Gabby has since returned to Accra.Baako told Joy News at midday that one week was too short a period to complete investigating a matter of the magnitude of the alleged bribery scandal, said to involve some $4 million. He said while recent impressions in the Ghanaian media had sought to create the impression that neither former President Rawlings nor his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was mentioned in the court hearing of the case in Norway, his investigations there revealed that their names, as well as that of Mr. P.V. Obeng, were actually mentioned by witnesses in the trial. He said the witnesses were part of the defence of Tor Egil Kjelsaas, who was head of Scancem's cement operations in Africa, mainly Ghana and Togo.Tor stood trial for stealing money belonging to the company, however the court acquitted him of any wrong doing.Kweku Baako, who spoke with Joy News’ Matilda Asante, said he would be returning home on August 20, whence he hopes to publish details of his findings in his newspaper, which he said financed his trip and therefore ought to benefit from that investment.
