A member of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA), Kwesi Gyan Apenteng, has been elected Chair of the National Media Commission (NMC).
He replaces Ambassador Kabral Blay Amihere.
Prior to his election Mr Apenteng served as a Commissioner on the NMC board.

Also, 18 members were inducted to run the NMC at a short ceremony in Accra on Monday.
They include Chief Executive Officer of Accra based Citi FM, Samuel Attah-Mensah, Managing Editors of the Insight and Daily Guide newspapers.
Managing Editor of the Insight would represent the Office of the President on the new board, while Daily Guide’s Gina Blay would represent Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association.
The 18-member board is expected to run the NMC for the next three years.
The NMC Is a Government agency mandated with the responsibility of registering, regulating and monitoring the activities of media houses in Ghana.
It was set on July 7, 1993 by an Act of Parliament, National Media Commission Act 1993, Act 449 in pursuit of the provisions of Chapter 12 of Ghana's 1992 Constitution is enjoined among others to take all measures to ensure the establishment and maintenance of the highest journalistic standards on mass media, including investigation, mediation and settlement of complaints made against or by the press or other mass media.
