The Minister of Labour, Jobs, and Employment, Dr. Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, has acknowledged concerns raised by the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) over the appointment of Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway as the new Registrar of Births and Deaths.
In a letter addressed to CLOGSAG’s Executive Secretary dated March 7, the Minister confirmed that discussions have been held with relevant stakeholders to address the issues raised.
He assured that efforts are being made to reach an amicable resolution.

“I appreciate that CLOGSAG’s concerns do not particularly relate to the President’s appointments but rather to the fact that the individual in question is deemed to be politically exposed,” the letter noted. stated.
Dr Pelpuo expressed hope that CLOGSAG would reconsider its position, urging the association to call off its strike and allow members to return to work.
He further assured that the concerns raised would be noted and conveyed to the President for consideration in future appointments.
CLOGSAG had earlier petitioned against the appointment of Mr. Botchway, citing concerns over political influence in the public service. The association has since taken industrial action to push for a review of the decision.
