A 29-year-old Labourer has been jailed for 10 months by the Kwadaso Circuit Court in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region, for stealing GH¢12,000.00 at Kumasi-Santasi.
Emmanuel Frimpong, alias Ebo Noah, pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea.
Police Chief Inspector David Opoku Kwabi, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Jephthah Appau that, the complainant Blackjew Appiah, was a sales officer at a Unilever products distribution company in Santasi, where Frimpong worked as a Labourer.
He said, on January 7, 2026, the complainant went to one Leticia Gyamfi, a mobile money vendor, now a witness, to withdraw an amount of GHC 12,000 from his mobile money wallet.
After a successful cash out procedure, the vendor couldn’t raise the total amount and pleaded with the complainant to give him a few minutes to gather all the money and he agreed.
The prosecutor said, when the vendor later raised the total amount, she spotted the convict who also went to deposit money into his wallet.
She then contacted the complainant on phone and informed him that she wanted to hand over the money to the convict to be given to him at the office and he agreed.
The prosecution, the convict, after taking the money, changed his direction and travelled straight to Cape Coast hotel in the central region, where he spent four days with commercial sex workers.
The convict, after enjoying himself, travelled to Wromanso in the Amansie East District of the Ashanti Region.
A report was made to the police at Suntreso, and the convict was arrested at Wromanso.
After further investigations, he was charged and brought before the court.
