In consonance with its unflinching belief in corporate social responsibility, Laweh Open University College, Teshie-Nungua Estates, has donated food items and Laweh branded T-shirts to the Muslim Community of Nungua through its Chief Imam, Alhaji Abubakar

The food items consist of bags of rice, cooking oil, tins of tomato paste and canned mackerel.

Presenting the items, Registrar of Laweh Open University, Mr. Daniel Bukari, explained that the donation was part of the University’s project of knowing its host community as well as making Laweh known to its neighbours. Besides, it was the University’s contribution towards activities to climax the celebration of end of Ramadan and Eid.

Mr. Bukari, who led a delegation of Laweh officials, disclosed that the University was established by a son of Nungua, Prof. Joshua Alabi, immediate past Vice Chancellor of University of Professional Studies, Accra.

He urged the residents of the Zongo Community to take advantage of the innovative programmes and flexibly designed mode of teaching and learning to improve upon their education.

He explained, “Laweh Open University offers flexible fee payment terms and learners can enjoy the facility through negotiation with the University authorities. Programmes have been designed to meet the needs of workers with busy schedules.”

Mr. Bukari asked the Chief Imam to inform the residents of Zongo community of a forthcoming engagement between them and Laweh officials in the Community. He also asked the Imam to pray for the success and growth of the University.

In his response, Alhaji Abubakar thanked the Laweh team for their kind gesture and assured the team of his unwavering support. He promised to convey Laweh’s message to the youth.

Mrs. Eunice S. Darko, Auditor of Laweh, urged female residents of the community to seize the opportunities offered by Laweh, adding, “If you educate a woman, you educate a family.”
