Some lawyers have lauded the move by the Chief Justice to automate the distribution of cases.The Electronic Case Distribution System is intended to end an apparent suspicion of case fixing at the courts.It is already being piloted at the High Courts in Accra and that for the Court of Appeal will start in January.National Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Bar Association, Anthony Forson Junior is hopeful the system will be managed effectively.He said the introduction of the system was particularly commendable “so long as the perception [of case fixing] persist and the Chief Justice being the supervisor of the judiciary has a duty to remove this perception...” Mr Forson Jnr emphasised the need for a concerted effort to engender confidence in the country’s judges “so that this will not even be necessary because as it stands now, somebody will say that because the judges or the system is corrupt, that is why this system has been put in place.”The MP for Abuakwa South who is also a lawyer, Samuel Atta Kyea, also believes the system will improve justice delivery in the country.He however, said the system cannot be fool-proof.Source: Joy News/Ghana
