Ghana World Cup defender Lee Addy has joined Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade.
The 22-year-old signed a three-year with the former Uefa Champions League winners on Thursday night after arriving from his homeland.
Addy, who played three matches for the Black Stars at the World Cup in South Africa in July, moves from local club Bechem Chelsea.
He was met on arrival at the Belgrade Airport by his compatriot Issah Mohammed, who plays for the club, and other officials of the respected Serbian club.
The Ghanaian utility player was taken on a tour of the club’s stadium in Belgrade before he signed the three-year contract at the headquaters of the Football Association of Serbia.
“I know that I have come to a big European club as I have already heard of the exploits of Red Star,” Addy said.
“For me there was not much doubt, because I think that by playing for the a big club in Europe like Red Star I will achieve my dreams.
“I saw a lot at Red Star’s international stadium and I am glad that I have joined the club. I have heard a lot about the atmosphere in this stadium.
“Now I will do everything to help Red Star to achieve better results and be a champion, like many times before.”
Later in the evening a dinner was held in his honour to welcome him to the city before he was whisked away to his hotel.
Addy will start training with the club on Friday as he begins his career in Europe.
