The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has described the Minister of Education, Mr. Lee Ocran as a person with no credibility and therefore must be ignored.
He said the comments by Mr. Lee Ocran last Monday, 10th September, 2012, that the NPP’s policy of free senior high school education is not feasible clearly indicate that he has no faith in the capabilities of the ordinary Ghanaian, adding that the country has enough funds to execute whatever policies we wish to bring to our people.
Nana Addo, who was addressing a mammoth crowd when his campaign train stormed the Weija constituency during the third phase of his ‘restoration of hope’ tour in the Greater Accra region, said the people of Ghana have no time to wait for the 20 years proposed by Lee Ocran before bringing forth its policies.
“He said this can only be feasible after 20 years because there is no money, we say there is money, we will not wait for the NDC to mismanage the state’s funds before we complain that there is no money, people like Lee Ocran do not understand their ways, ignore them”, Akufo-Addo charged.
Nana Addo further told the mammoth crowd that it was this same Lee Ocran who said there was no oil any where in the country on the floor of Parliament when ex-President Kufour said there was oil.
“Lee Ocran, who was then a Member of Parliament, told the House that it was not true, he came with a bottle of palm kennel oil to the House that the country has no oil”, Nana Addo disclosed.
The NPP leader further blamed the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the lack of development and the economic hardship in the country, describing them as people with shallow minds and a party without think tanks.
According to Nana Akufo-Addo, the development of the country has been stagnant due to the bad leadership and policies of the ruling NDC, adding that the NDC has done nothing for the good people of this country except to govern the country on lies, insults and mismanagement of state funds.
Nana Addo took two days to tour the Weija constituency with the incumbent Member of Parliament Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, saying the NPP has capable men who are ready to move the country forward.
He mentioned that the NDC has vehemently opposed the policies of the NPP and further described them as policies that cannot be feasible because the party has no think tanks.
“Because of their dubious ways they do not believe that it is possibly to executive the free education, free maternal care and the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), you just preach the message of the NPP to your friends and families, and together we will change the destiny of the people of this country,” he said.
“We are where we are today all because of the bad leadership and policies of the ruling National Democratic Congress, we need good policies to move our country forward, the NPP will not govern this country on lies, insults, and fraud but with good governance and the rule of law,” Nana Addo gave this assurance.
He promised that instead of state funds given to undeserving people, sympathizers and friends of political parties just like what the NDC is doing; the NPP on the other hand will use those monies to build the human capital of the country
On her part, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, also pleaded with the people of her constituency to rally support behind her and the party’s presidential candidate, adding that she cannot deliver on her promises to them if she goes to parliament without her president.
