The president of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), of the University of Ghana, Legon has denied ever benefiting financially from the ruling government.
She was reacting to allegations made against her by the sacked vice president of the SRC, Nii Adokwei Codjoe, who alleged that she benefited financially from the ruling party during her campaign for the presidency of the student body.
Speaking to Joy News, the SRC president, Carol Serwaa Donkor said, the allegation is false, stating that she has never benefited financially from the NPP.
Clarifying issues surrounding the dismissal of Nii Adokwei, she said, he was found to have used the SRC’s letterheads without approval.
According to Carol, when the matter came up, they sat with the Dean of Students, and the SRC’s Legal Officer was present, and the Dean asked them to deal with the issue at their level.
She also said Nii Adokwei was not present at the said meeting.
According to her, the Executive heads of the SRC took the decision to relieve the former vice president of his post as punishment for the offence.
The vice president of the SRC was reported sacked last Thursday and a copy of the dismissal letter was served to the Vice Chancellor of the University, but no reasons we assigned for the action at that time.
