The Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, says the country must celebrate business moguls who risk resources to ensure that they contribute to economic growth and reduce the rate of unemployment in the country.
According to him, entrepreneurs have played critical roles in the development of this country and will continue to do so.
“The most critical challenge confronting us as a country is to create jobs. You do not solve the issue of unemployment through the public sector. It is only through private sector development and that is why as a country, we have to celebrate those who are risking their capital, lives and energy to be able to establish enterprises that will create jobs and support the economic growth and development of the country,” he stated.
Chief Executive of McDan Group, Dr Daniel McKorley told Joy Business businesses must continue to be optimistic about the future despite challenges facing them.
“Turbulent times can come but that’s what makes you an entrepreneur. Though it’s been turbulent but I want to encourage them, to let them know that there’s light at the end of the tunnel,” he encouraged.
Dr. Daniel McKorley launched an autobiography titled “The Path of an Eagle; Desire, Hope and Glory”.
AfCFTA has long term benefits to businesses - Wemkele Mene
General Secretary of the African Continental Freed Trade Agreement, Wemkele Mene, for his part assured businesses of long term gains from the AfCFTA.
He however urged them to be patient with the process as expanding into new markets take time to materialize.
“They should look out for long term yields and long term results. When you expand into a new market, opportunities take time to present themselves in a way of improved profits. However, the important thing is that we have taken the first step by creating a very strong trade environment on the continent which provides preferential treatment but we must be patient,” he said.
