President of the Liberian amputee football team Cooper Mervin Gutah has called the bluff of Ghana ahead of next year’s tourney.
The Lone Star team beat hosts Ghana 3-2 on penalties to win the 2011 Cup of African Nations for Amputee Football (CANAF) at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.
Well, this is their second consecutive win after emerging victors last year.
They attribute the victories to God so at the weekend they visited the Gospel Ambassadors Church at Lapaz here in Accra for a thanks-giving service.
President Mervin Gutah said his team will hold on to the cup for the next four years before handing it over to another country.
“If Ghana say they are angry, they are only angry with themselves because they have to train more if they want the championship from me,” Mervin Gutah told Joy News’ Fiifi Koomson.
“I’m always prepared. One good thing is that I believe in God, except when I feel like giving in to them. But when I don’t feel like giving it to them I don’t think they can ever receive it from me.”
“My boys are trained, basically every time when we are getting ready for a tournament,” he added.

Head Pastor of the Gospel Ambassadors’ Church, Reverend Kennedy Bentum advised the boys to work hard to bring glory to their country.
“Remember that you are a source of hope for other people who are in your situation so keep it up and then work and then go and be ambassadors of your country. And then with what you are doing I believe that you’ll bring peace to Liberia,” he said.
Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is said to be preparing to give the team a red-carpet treatment when they arrive in Liberia on Tuesday.
