Following persistent demonstrations by some irate youth at Hamile, Chief Executive Officer of DKM Diamond Micro Finance Company Limited, Martin K. Delle has come to the rescue of the community. The town is located at Lambussie-Karni district of the Upper West region.
The youth last week Thursday burnt into ashes a tollgate mounted at Hamile by the Lambussie-Karni district Assembly to collect revenue for the Assembly.
They resumed their demonstration on Tuesday to drum home the need for the authorities to fix the deplorable conditions of roads in the area.
The youth accused the District Assembly of collecting tax and yet have nothing to show for it.
Chairman of the Hamile youth group, Musah Fuseini stated that for years they have been neglected by successive governments.
The roads there are terrible. They have now turned into death traps.
“We share border with Burkina Faso and they have tarred their part from their capital Ouagadougou to the boundary with Ghana. If you come here as a Ghanaian, you will bow down your head in shame upon seeing our side of the divide.”
But Chief Executive Officer of DKM Diamond Micro Finance Limited, Martin K Delle, whose out fit is already tarring some roads in the Nandom town free of charge, has ordered the director in charge of projects, Dabuo K. Joseph to immediately move to Hamile to fix the roads there for the people.
Hamile town went agog on Wednesday evening when they saw trucks embossed with DKM and loaded with sand heading to the affected roads.
The residents were full of praise for the micro finance Chief Executive Officer for hearing their plight and coming to rescue them.
‘‘As for DKM, it is only God who will reward this man for the service he rendering to us,’’ one resident remarked.
