President Akufo-Addo in May embarked on a business trip to multiple destinations, France, Belgium, South Africa, and back to the country, in a G-Kelt aircraft.
The trip is said to have cost £345,000. The North Tongu MP, Samuel OKudzeto Ablakwa who disclosed the cost of the trip accused the President of ostentatious spending even as the country goes through economic hardships.
He said if the President had traveled in the presidential jet, the alleged profligate expenditure would have been avoided.
However, appearing before Parliament today, to answer an urgent question raised by Mr Ablakwa, the Defence Minister, Mr Dominic Nitiwul disagreed with the North Tongu MP on the basis that, the presidential jet, also known as Falcon, was not conducive for the nature of trip that the President embarked upon.
So, tonight on PM Express, Joy News' Evans Mensah will host the two protagonists; Minister of Defence and MP for Bimbilla, Dominic Nitiwul and Ranking Member, Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament and MP of North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as they argue out their cases.
