President John Mahama is promising to put an end to the unbearable load shedding exercise the country is enduring at the moment. The whole country is undergoing an erratic power supply as a result of the destruction of parts of the gas pipe line. Addressing party supporters during the manifesto launch in the Volta Regional town of Ho, the president said the vision of the government is to produce 5000 megawatts of power by 2015 which will solve the problem of load shedding. He said currently the country is producing 2000 megawatts of power and will add 300 megawatts by close of the year. President John Mahama said by 2013 the country will produce 700 megawatts and will make Ghana a net exporter of energy. According to him, the ruling party has increased Ghana’s average electricity distribution to 70 per cent and hopes to, as part of the energy for all programme, extend electricity to all parts of the country. He said as part of that programme every community with over 500 people will be eligible for power supply.
