In a display of community spirit and generosity, a local businessman, Mr Parlous Quarshie, has undertaken the construction of a 1.5-kilometre road that promises to transform the landscape of Gbornorme in Weta in the Ketu-North municipality of the Volta Region.

The road that links Gbornorme to other communities, especially the main town of Weta and other major communities would bring relief to the residents, especially farmers.

The road, according to the residents, was in a very deplorable state especially when it rains. They noted that they had difficulties accessing their farms and transporting their farm produce to the markets nearby.

A traditional leader in the community, Dumegah Mawuli Akpakana stated that it was a chore using the terrible road before Parlous Quashie came to their aid.

Mr Quashie said he was worried about the nature of the roads in the Gbornorme community and had to help them by constructing the 1.5km road in the meantime while hoping to complete the others soon.

He stated that it was necessary for businessmen and women to help their communities instead of waiting for the government to do everything.

He urged organisations and individuals to help in any way they can in order to help reduce the burden on the government.

The engineer at the site, Epiphany Klutse hopes the roads bring relief to the people and noted that they will make sure that all roads promised by them will be duly constructed to help give the residents the needed relief
